I Opened a New Store!

I am not sure if I am insane or a super savvy businesswoman. I have been hearing the buzz about ArtFire, a new site for handmade items, and decided to try to get in early and establish a presence. They offer a free version, which includes 10 listings at a time- I opted instead for the $7 a month plan, where I can have unlimited listings, plus a number of other perks that will be great for branding.

I set up my store tonight and added my first item. I decided to make my ArtFire store The Earring Annex to Maggie's Handcraft Studio. I need to add the earring annex part to my normal store banner, but I did not want that to cause me to delay this move any further. I think in the new year, I might change around how I do my stores, and have certain things sold only on certain venues, but I have not figured all of that out for sure yet.

I am not convinced that I love the look of the site, but I want to give it a chance. I plan to list at least one pair of earrings a day, hopefully more.

Fun Halloween Earrings!

I decided to make a line of kinder, gentler Halloween earrings. I got feedback last year that maybe my monster picks were a little too intense!

This new line includes whimsical earrings showing friendly bats, spiders, vampires, witches and frankenstein monsters, along with candy corn and black cats! Also I have handcrafted wire spider web earrings in both silver and copper!

I know I also have some skull and vampire picks, I just have not made the earrings yet to get a picture of them.

In the Garden

With the extreme heat and so many allergies, I am not going to spend the day in my real garden, but I am going to make flowery earrings today! I am making earrings with trumpet flower beads and fashioning the stems from silver wire.

I have 10 different colors of flower beads. As soon as I am done I will "pose" a group shot in my new light tent and post it here!

June Featured Charity in my Ebay Store!

For the month of June, my featured charity of the month is the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. The proceeds from any Siam Red Crystal Earrings with Freshwater Pearls purchased in May will go 100% to the fund.

All proceeds from the sale of my orange guitar pick earrings in my Ebay store will go this month to support UNITED IN CARING FUND FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE VIRGINIA TECH TRAGEDY.

Earring-o-rama!

I have been snowed in this week with my two sons and my sick husband. Just at the time the snow approached, I received a nice wholesale restocking order, so it was time to make the earrings! Since I got my coveted Dremel tool for Christmas (Thanks MIL and FIL!), it never makes sense anymore to just drill a few pairs of guitar picks. So I drilled 52 guitar picks. Then I made all the guitar pick earrings I could from theose 52 guitar picks. Then I got an order in my Ebay store for some pick earrings I did not have made (I know, hard to believe isn't it?). So back I went to the drill. Twenty four more picks drilled, 12 more pairs of earrings.



We are still pretty much snowed in...I am moving on to gemstone earrings.

So many Guitar Picks, So Little Time

Wow! Been a long time, no blog! I have had a crazy fall with kids in activities and a ton of items to make! My oldest is now a licensed driver! My oldest likes to tease me about my latest obsession, guitar picks! He has spent years watching me hoarde fabric, and then beads, and now I get all these envelopes of picks arriving in the mail.





As you can see, I have monsters, Jerry Garcia's artwork, biohazard symbols, Christian themes, Lucky 13, complete with skull and crossbones, Hello Kitty, Camo and harley Davidson guitar picks, all of which I have made into earrings! I think I need to make some pendants, too!
